Game of Thrones 6x7: The Broken Man
It appears that Game of Thrones has decided to cease to be a series built on episodes, but a series built on seasons. At least, that's what it feels like when the past two episodes have only served as means of building tension for the upcoming battles. Even the teaser for this season explicitly hinted at a season built on large scale battles. Lannisters vs. High Sparrow, The Stark Squad vs. Ramsay, Jaime vs. the Blackfish. Yet, none of these battles have come to fruition, yet. The show has been dragging us through meandering bits of exposition with this need to ramp up to the finale. Let's just hope they don't waste the next three episodes building up the conflicts only to leave them unresolved for next season.
Here is this week's episode broken down into fake quotes.
"Hey guy who has lived with us for several months, tell me your life story once again and later lets get murdered in the first act of violence our marginalized group has ever faced."
"Hey, a face-swapping assassin is after me, let me walk around in public a lot and linger by scenic views until I get inevitably murdered."
"We're getting the band back together, you in?"
"Hey, look at this army King Tommen had all along, let's use it to fight in a conflict no one cares about."
Theon & Yara
"Hey, Theon, can you reaffirm your allegiance to me that you just established last episode?"
Maergery & The High Sparrow
"King's Landing sets are expensive, let's keep filming in a dungeon."
Cercei & Olenna Tyrell
"Let's put aside our differences and work together so we can stop being irrelevant."
"No, that would push the story forward."
